Jo Brands to Host a New Four-Parts Scala Series
On Tour with Jo Brand is a new four-part series to be broadcast by Scala Radio throughout August.
The programmes will celebrate the best UK classical music as the comedian takes a musical trip around the country.
Jo commented: “It is great to be back out On Tour, albeit in a slightly different way to what I am used to.
“I am looking forward to exploring the wonderful of classical music the UK has to offer, whilst reminiscing about some of the fun memories I have had whilst out on the comedy circuit.
On Tour with Jo Brand begins in Scotland giving a nod to the Edinburgh Festival. Jo will be sharing some of her favourite memories from performing across Scotland, along with classical music, from Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony to Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, as well as pieces performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
The episode will also look at traditional folk music from Scotland and discover pieces by contemporary composers.
The second episode will explore the north of England, beginning in the city of culture, Liverpool, then to Hull, Leeds, and the Lake District..
Episode three will see Jo head to North Wales, the West and South-West of England with London and the South-East bringing the tour to a close.
On Tour with Jo Brand on Scala Radio begins on Sunday 1st August from 6pm – 8pm and continues each Sunday night throughout August.
Spotify to Introduce a ‘What’s New’ Feed to Increase Engagement
Spotify has introduced what it’s calling the “What’s New” feed, which will deliver an ongoing series of updates to mobile app users focused on new releases. under a “bell” icon in the mobile app
According to Spotify, the What’s New feed will serve as another personalised way for Spotify users to keep up with all the new music and podcasts that are released from the shows and artists that they follow on the service
The feed will be also updated in real-time, Spotify says, and will display a blue dot when there are new songs and episodes that arrived since you last opened the app.
Lyca to Re-Brand Dilse as Lyca Gold
Lyca Media will phase out its Dilse Radio branding soon in favour of creating a Gold service for Lyca Radio.
Lyca Gold will launch in September on 1035AM in London and digital following a Format change from Ofcom allowing Disle to switch from a speech heavy service to playing oldies.
The company’s new CEO, Raj Baddhan, has been working on the changes since his appointment in January this year.
He says: “Since I joined the Lyca Group at the beginning of this year, my vision has been clear. I wanted to give Londoners two stations with the best of Asian music from various eras.
“Lyca Radio has had a stupendous response since I joined, and I know Lyca Gold will be a huge success. There is no other radio station in the UK targeting an older audience and Lyca Gold will cater specifically for that market.
Lyca Gold will target a male skewed 40+ audience.
